Policies

All staff should have regular access to the policies that pertain to them, including TFA's policies, and federal, state, and local policies.

Teach For America Staff Handbook

The Staff handbook represents all of our staff policies, including Administration, Contract Management, Employment, Independent Contractor, Information Confidentiality and Security, IT, and Finance policies. We encourage you to review them in their entirety. To access staff policies in Workday after you've acknowledged receipt:

  • Log into Workday
  • Go to the Personal Information worklet 
  • Click View 
  • Select Worker Documents
The Staff Handbook should be in your Workday Documents.* If you have any questions, email Generalist@teachforamerica.org.

*Teach For America periodically updates our policies to accommodate changes in organizational operations and strategy. The Risk & Compliance Team will notify you of the updated staff handbook at least once per year. If you have questions about any policy and want to ensure you have the latest version, please email RiskandCompliance@teachforamerica.org.

Sick Time Policy for Non-Benefits Eligible Staff

Staff Disability Accommodations

Labor Law Posters for Remote Staff Members

Remote or home office-based staff members can access applicable federal, state, and city labor law posters in the State and City Notices folder.

Affordable Care Act + Benefits Eligibility

The Affordable Care Act law requires most individuals to obtain health coverage or otherwise be fined a penalty payment when filing annual taxes. Read more about the ACA law and eligibility for TFA healthcare coverage.


Timesheet Requirements

Staff timesheets are housed within Workday. All staff members are responsible for understanding our time & attendance policies and for submitting timesheets every week by EOD Tuesday.

Timesheet Amendments

Amending Submitted or Approved Timesheets

The process for amending a previously submitted or approved timesheet depends on whether a staff member is hourly or salaried. Find guidance for each type of staff below.

Hourly Staff

  2. Resubmit for manager approval.
  
If timesheet submission window has CLOSED in Workday and cannot be edited:
Hours Worked
  1. Complete a Timesheet Amendment Form.** Have manager approve and sign the amendment form.
    ** California or Nevada staff must use the CA/NV Timesheet Amendment Form.
  2. Submit approved Timesheet Amendment form to payroll_inquiries@teachforamerica.org for processing.
Time Off *
  1. Complete a Timesheet Amendment Form.** Have manager approve and sign the amendment form.
    ** California or Nevada staff must use the CA/NV Timesheet Amendment Form.

Salaried employees are not able to amend hours worked once the timesheet submission window closes.

    ** California or Nevada staff must use the CA/NV Timesheet Amendment Form.
  2. Submit approved Timesheet Amendment form to generalist@teachforamerica.org for processing.

* Includes PTO, sick time, floating holiday, bereavement, jury duty, or religious holiday.
